3D Art Final

This year in art, I’ve learned how to use plaster, clay, wood, metal, and clay. I’ve made projects for fun and some to be informative. This user I have accomplished how to made a ceramic bowl, whistle, and tile without it exploding or cracking. I had realistic goals and I would like to believe that I accomplished those goals with each project. I wanted each project to look great, but also come out to something that I can use and be proud of. I want to be able to use these experiences in the future when I take other art classes, in or out of school.

Next year I’m planning on taking photography and I want to take ceramics in my other years of high school because I really enjoy that unit this year. In the future I want to make more sophisticated pieces of art that look even better when I get more experienced and spend more time with each material. If I want better results with my work in the future, then I need to take my time more on focusing on what abilities I struggle with, instead of looking around at what I can’t do or what doesn’t look good. I believe I will get better by doing that. I need to gain confidence in my abilities of what I can do instead of what is out of my reach.

Something I think I did well was that I really worked hard on my projects, especially the ceramic projects. I came in during my free periods and I made use of my time in class. When I struggle with something I push myself to make sure I finish with the problem and better myself. I will continue to push myself and make artwork that speaks to me. I learned not to get frustrated when a project doesn’t come out what I originally planned it to be like, but I still accept it and look to improve it.

The most challenging part of this class was working with wood. It split and splintered since it was a very different type of wood than what I normally work with. I also struggled with the metal wiring and paper were difficult because I always got cut or stabbed by the material. To overcome my struggle with wood, I took my time and instead of using the exacto knife to cut everything for my consumerism gingerbread man wood project, I sanded most of it. My project came out very nice, and it looked very finished throughout.

New skills I use now are that I actually make some of my own shadow books of my own at my house, not just in class. I’ve learned to be patience and learn to accept the outcome of my work more. I can use this in my future education when I don’t get a good grade, because I can understand that I have another chance to improve my grade, and my grade doesn’t reflect who I am as a person. This experience reinforces something l learned before, because there is a saying that states,” Its not what is on the outside, but what is on the inside.” I think this is very important in school, art class, and everyday life.

In my wood work I incorporated consumerism and form. In my paper sculpture I incorporated instrumentalism and shape. In my clay tile I incorporated place, identity, color and form. I used form and color on my ceramic whistle. On my metal metaphor project, I used juxtaposition and shape. I used balance in every piece of artwork I have made. I used form, shape, and color when making my plaster sphere.
